publisher re: access to old archives

I know that lots of problems cropped up with switches in format but I am still unable to access and search the archives from the old bbs5. Has anyone found a way to access and more importantly search this database? Having been around when the bbs5 was up I know what is in there and searches have only come up with recent posts and not the ones I was looking for from the old board. Help!
