Bonefish in the Bahamas?

My wife is looking to schedule a long weekend in the Bahamas, probably late november or early december.

Never having caught a bonefish, I'd like to give it a try, probably guided.

Is this a possibility at this time of year?

Any suggestions on a qualified guide?

providing a hurricane doesn't crash the party, there are a host of islands in the bahamas that could work.

south andros has some world class bonefish resorts, with great 3 day packages. my wife and i will be going there in march of 2001.
also, the exumas have the peace and plenty lodge which is a world class facility.

abaco is certainly worth a look. there is an excellent lodge called "different of abaco". i've fished abaco several times, on my own and with a guide. i fished with a guide named Chris Pinder in region called "the marls." fabulous bonefishing!!
had three consectutive 30+ fish days.
i have his name and phone # if interested.

<P>i think there is a day trip that goes by boat from nassau to the exumas.....i dont think you will have much luck around nassau...over fished and too crowded.......but if you can get to any of the small islands near there you should have a shot......let me know if you find any more info..</P>

<FONT color=black face=Verdana,Geneva size=2>have you found any more info...i may be there the same time...i have found there is a FastFerry from Nassau to spanish wells and harbour.island ... you could do a day trip to either spot...years ago i caught bonefish on spanish wells and i have heard that Harbour Island is better...lets exchange info</FONT>

we were on eluthera for several weeks this past march. i fished harbor island on two different occasions. i did spot some medium size bones on the the girl's bank flats. but, they really get lots of pressure, and are ultra spooky. if i even dropped a fly within 6' of them,...POOF, ....gone>!

i visited spanish wells. very quiet place. there are some massive flats. i did speak with three guys who were having some luck with the bonefish on the flats. however,...this may be a tough place to spend a week or so,.it's very quiet.

Hey, you've probably already made yur choices but if you haven't then south (or north) Andros are the places to go. Just fifteen minutes from Nassau, flights at about 8:00 in the morning and 3:00 in the afternoon allow you to fly over, fish and get back for dinner.
Try Bradley Blackwell from the Fresh Creek area in the north (he actually lives north of there but you can reach him through the LIghthouse Hotel) or Stanley on south Andros (call through Emerald Palms by the Sea hotel). Both are excellent guides and you'll see thousands of fish and catch as many as you can cast to.
I'll be in Congo town, south andros during Nov 17-28, call David at the Congo Beach Hotel and ask for Michael staying at his daughter's house, if I can help.

ron, A few years ago while at nassau, I took the flight over to andros, and had a great fishing trip. There are quite a few fishing camps to choose from, and enough tackle info in old fishing mags to get you going. Also, if you rent a car while you're there, get maps of the island and try to find spots on your own. It can be quite productive. ronr

April of 2001. Considering staying at Different of Abaco for at least a three day fishing package. Would appreciate any comments re bonefishing, guides and whatever.

Also wondering if it would be practical to wade fish on own in area not too distant from accomodations.
