Hey everybody,
Does anybody know what I can put in the bottom of my stripping basket to keep my line from tangling, but will still allow the line to exit the basket without catching? Thanks.

matts- I have tried the weed whacker line and after a couple of months I had to re-epoxy them in if I was lucky enough to find them. I switched to using the cable ties and even without gluing them in I haven't lost one yet- going on 2 yrs. Just my $.02. rel

If you have wash tub type basket, try using plastic Easter eggs halfs.Just epoxy them in place.Works like an Orvis basket

Try cutting two small slits and threading a snap tie down and then back up and fasten. Then cut at desired length on a bias.

I use smooth weed wacker line and ty knots in it, heat it over the stove so you can pull the knots tight, drill holes in the basket and dropthem thru from the bottom. then I put Aqua seal over them from the bottom. Mine don't fall out.

Hey Matts,

I drilled holes in the bottom of my basket, lined the holes w/ some epoxy and then inserted extra long golf tees from the bottom of the basket. Works like a charm!

Good luck...

Don't they hurt if you stick your hand into them?

I used the teeth from one of those combs they call a pick. There a 3" long piece of plastic. Since they are meant for combing hair they are smooth and won't scratch the line. I drilled holes in a plastic tub and used a brass nut on the top and bottom of the tooth to secure it to the tub. I have been using it for about four years now and it works great, but there seem to be many much simpler methods mentioned here.

I did the same thing as JohnnyP, but then covered the tees with some clear plastic tubing

Even with anti tangle gadgets in my basket, I find that stretching my line before fishing makes a big difference. I have a loop of line and after I string up my rod, I hook my fly to it and back up about 80',stand there a minute with the line tight. For a short walk I just put it in my basket, but if you reel it in it seems to work also.

time to go to bed so I can get up for my short drive to fish. 3-1/2 hrs
