One of the things I like about the Southern fishermen is that they seem to be much more open to trying different things.
The result is that they come up with crazy and unconventional methods, and subsequently improve the catching.
Here in NE it seems that the mere mention of any natural bait brings derisive criticism.
Why do you suppose that is?
