Hi there,
I am new to saltwater fly fishing and was planning a trip to florida in the fall. I am obsessed with planning and want to go ahead and get some flies. Would you recommend any of the fly selections in the fly fishing auction at www.reelanddeal.com? I just came across the site and it looks like they have some good prices? Maybe not though? I appreciate any help.

It really depends on what part of Florida you are visiting. South of Tampa, Florida lacks the seasonality that it has where I live (Pensacola). So, you can pretty much count on catching fish consistently down there. Up north, though, you have to target certain fish during certain months to have any success. If you are coming anywhere near Pensacola, I can help you, but the farther south you go, the less I know. Start off casting chart./white clousers - the all-around saltwater fly. And generally, the bigger the clouser, the bigger the game.

I'm a little further south than spooledagain. In the Tampa Bay area for flats fish I use several flies. A good sellection would be some decievers (white and chartreus/white), clousers (brown/orange, chartrues/white and lightbrown/white), bendbacks (same colors), crab imitations (light and dark brown), a couple of poppers and a gold spoonfly.

I use them mainly on flats. Offshore you need different types of flies and larger ones. If you are going offshore, your better off with a guide who will supply the right flies.
