I'm planning on renting a boat at sandy point. Can anyone tell me if there is any special technique to flyfishing the rocks at the inlet to the park, or along the bridge supports? What type of line? Flies? How close do I anchor to pilings? Any etiquite envolved so as not to offend others? Any/all info. would be appreciated.

Can't help you with the ettiquete of fishing along the jetty as frankly I have never seen anyone try to do it from a boat. Probably because that is the access channel to the boat ramp. The space is narrow between the jetty and the bridge pilings and depending on the time of the day you would constantly have to give way to boat traffic entering and leaving the ramp area. That said, you can find fish at almost any piling on any given day. The most consistent fishing over the last 2/3 weeks has been at the eastern rockpile on the main bridge span. On a reasonably calm day the rental boats are adequate to get out to the middle span. There have been mixed schools of stripers/blues with occasional trout under them. Good luck.
