Put my kayak in at Longshore mid afternoon yesterday, and took a leisurely paddle out to Cockenoe Island with my buddy Stew. We drifted back and forth over the reef in very low wind pushing us north with the current pulling south. Saw lots of baitfish, and a few surfacing fish, but no takers for our offerings. I've been using an intermediate sinking line with clousers and deceivers, with little success recently. Is that the way to go this time of year?

The only thing to try would be changing the time of day you are going. Most "catchable" fish activity is happening at night, or first light.

Thanks. Is it likely that daytime fishing will pick up when the weather cools? If so, what's the usual sequence of events for the fall run?
