Saw a lot of posts about Harker's Island, NC. in November. Just wanted to point out it goes on in October and November. Not sure but what this notion that it occurs only in November gets a log jam of folks trying to find guides all for one short window of time.
My approach for a new person to the scene would be to grab something around the 20th or so of October and then book the same guy or gal for next year.
Guess I also would avoid the first weekend on November cause that seems to be the start of this November fixation.
Anyway, thats my read on this thing. My opinion.

Your absolutly right knotdun. What some anglers don't realize is that the albacore can come in as early as the end of September and stay thru January. Last year I had some of my best sight fishing for surface albies on the 15th of December, and there were only two other boats out that day! Also, if anyone is planning to come down and fish more that one day for the alberts and the wind gets a little bit high or your arm is tired of catching the alberts, we have some very good sight fishing for the redfish from November thru February. These redfish will eat a fly during these months. Some of these reds are over the 30 inch range, and catching numbers is not unheard of. Also if you can't find accomodation on Harkers Island during the albacore season don't worry, there are plenty of hotels, motels, condos, public boat ramps and places to eat in the Morehead City and Atlantic Beach area.

Capt'ns Joe and Dave,

Right on the albacore. Was down at Wrightsville over Labor Day with family. Took 12-year-old out to catch some Spanish and saw birds working over what turned out to be albies at Masonboro Inlet. Looked like they were heading toward you guys!

Its about time this board started jumping! Love to hear from the experts, thanks Capt.'s Joe, Dave and Buzz. Man, I am pumped! Cant wait to get down there. I am supposed to go this weekend, but am putting the trip off for fairer skies. Keep the posts coming, guys.
