Two patterns to try are Lou Tabory's Slab Fly and Enrico Puglisi's Peanut Butter pattern.
The Slab Fly uses either bucktail, marabou or osterich herl for a tail tied on top the hook shank plus a spun deerhair head trimmed om the sides plus a set of eyes. The fly is supposed to act like a wounded bait fish in the water by virtue of the trimmed deerhair head. The fly takes lots of fish and is easy to cast. Look in Lou's book for additional tying instructions.
Enrico's patterns are a bit more involved in tying, but prsent excellent profiles and are easy to cast. Unfortunately, his web site, http://www.epflies.com/gallery.html, does not contain any recipes for tying the flies. Basically you are hi-tying on both the top and bottom of the hook shank with his Sea Fibers. When hi-tying you use very liitle materail in each tie, maybe a dozen strands of the materiial. If not careful the material can snarl when removed from the material bundle.
If you need additonal instructions send me an email rwolson@mediaone.net.
Good luck!

Enrico Puglisi's Peanut bunker, Mark's (Lewchik) Baby bunker, or white bunny flies.
