I have booked a room at the Comfort Inn in Beaufort when I go down there to fish for Albies this fall. I got a room rate of $50 per night. I you may have guessed I am staying in Beaufort because Harkers Island is all booked up.

Question: Are there any other motels on Harkers or in the area that are cheaper??

Thanks in advance!

To my knowledge - no.

Rick,

Peter is right. Comfort Inn is about the best deal I know of, certainly for a nice motel. Tommy Bennett there gives the $50 deal to fly fishers. It's much more in-season. While you'll not be on Harkers, the drive isn't bad, and the food choices are much greater. In fact, depending on where fish are and weather, you can launch your boat in Beaufort. Sure beats driving to Harkers and then running the boat back to Beaufort Inlet (assuming that's the hot spot of the day).

Plus, Tommy can give you up-to-date info! So thank him!

Thanks guys!! I got a week time share from my sister for $125 at the Peppertree in Atlantic Beach. Apparently, it is just across the bridge. Do you guys know if there is a public boat ramp over there? and is that an okay run to the hook?
Thanks is advance :)

you'll like the peppertree. the only free ramp that i know of on the beach is right next to cape lookout fly shop. the pay ramps $5 have better parking. there are a number of ramps rt on the beach

Here is my experience with Morehead accomodations. Comfort Inn is ok. But for 3 guys they offer nothing. They have a rollaway, but the only place in the room for it is next to the air conditioner. One poor sole gets not-good night's sleep. Also, they won't reserve the rollaway, only the room. So the third guy could be on the floor (or in your bed, you devil you!).
Best Western Buchaneer, at same price 100 yds down the road has none of these problems. Larger rooms.
Calico Jack's on Harker's $70. No coffee even in their store. Other places continetal breakfast included.
There is a small house next to Calico Jacks for rent, day, week, month.

As far as places to rent in the Atlantic Beach Morehead City area for more than 2 anglers, and especially if you plan to stay more than 2 or 3 days, you might want to consider calling Tetterton Management Group at 1-252-247-3096. They have plenty of oceanside condos in Atlantic Beach for as cheap as you can get a motel room. They have everything that you need from 2 to 5 bedroom condos and full efficiencies. Its just another option for those of you who don't want to stay in a motel!

Just checked Best Western and they charge $70 per night plus $10 for extra cot. Do you have other information about this?
Thanks Norm
