New Snook Regulations

Florida F&W has voted to reopen recreational harvest fishing for Snook in the States Atlantic Coast waters on Feb. 1, 2012. Anglers may keep one Snook between 28-32 inches. Fishermen must have a Snook Permit as well as a Saltwater license unless they are exempted from having the license. It is illegal to buy or sell Snook.

Florida Gulf Coast waters will remain Catch & Release only until at least Aug 31, 2012.

East coast Snook have recovered from the killing cold of 2009-2010 to the extent a season is feasible. However, gulf coast Snook have not recovered fully and will be protected further.

Only catch and release has been allowed in all Florida waters since the devastating cold weather-caused fish kills during the winter of 2009-2010. See full snook regs., above.
