canal report 10/7

i'm just wondering where all of these breaking fish at dawn are in the canal that the fishing reports keep talking about. went to sandwich jetty before dawn...nothing, although the twenty or so guys (and gals) plugging on the jetty indicate maybe something should be there.
went to bell road around 7am...nothing according to the ten guys plugging the west tide in front of the mud flats.
went to the hog at mashnee at 7:30... at least the funny fish were there, busting like crazy. now, if i only knew what they wanted to eat, maybe i could have caught my first. i threw a castmaster (1 oz), hopkins smoothies (1/4 oz and 3/4 oz), 5" fin-s on a half oz jig head and a crippled herring right in the middle of the breaking school and not so much as a nudge. they were off and on until 9am.

RE: canal report 10/7

It sounds like you tried both ends but you forgot the middle. I usually don't fish between bridges unless the herring are in(spring) but I checked out the herring run one morning last week and yes the fish were busting all over and Fri night they were breaking for well over 2 hours in the same area.
