Off Road Vehicle Permits in P-Town??

Does anyone know if they're sold out at the National Seashore? I'd hate to waste my gas in the morning.

Thumbs down Got my pass, maybe my last one!

When I couldn't get any update from the seashore's answering machine or website I finally decided to drive there at midnight. Got placed into a parking lot with about 40 other vehicles. Napped till 4AM when the traffic got pretty active. Walked over to the shed and found about 100 in line. Five hours later, cold and hungry, I was out of there. By that time there were about 250 still in line and as I drove away I found they were staging a couple hundred additional vehicles in the lot by the visitor center. My guess is the'll be all sold by sometime Thursday.

It looks like they've just created a panic by capping the number of passes available. The main demand these days is from sunbathers. Another obstacle to access for shorefishing.

It's a shame that tourist coming to the cape from distant places will not have a shot at driving the beaches.

To bad they did not have a fisherman's pass, good only after 4pm

Great Suggestion

Bob, You should relay that idea about an "After 4pm pass for Fisherman only to drive OTR to the National Seashore. They already utilize a similar pass for all the Seashore's beach parking lots - who know's, it might be feasable.

Do to family obligations and work I will not be able to get to the Race until after next week. It looks like I won't be driving out this year. I'll probably paddle from Herring Cove or drag the yak from the Upper parking lot at the Race to the water. I will be saving on gas though.

I had a sticker past years and never found it crowded out there. It might be because I fish from sunrise to no later than 8 or 9 am. And that was out of the yak, wind permitting. Like you said it is too bad they don't have some sort of after hours (after 4 pm to 9am) or after season pass (after Labor Day).
