Talking You know the haba is wide open when...

Slappy is nailing the fish on the fly. I launched the yak just after the low last night and started to poke around the outer harbor. the first 45 minutes was slow, so I picked up the flyrod with a 7" mackerel pattern. I moved to the right spot and was on. Even with my lame casting skills I was into the fish including a few legals on the fly. Fish came out of 4'-10' of water with good current.

Continued to pound them with the 10" fin-s; for about two hours every fish was legal size, then it went back to a mix of shorts/legals until the tide died.

Went into the double digits on legal fish, probably half the fish were legal size. Feels like August alreadly.

So far this is turning into a pretty good year. More and bigger fish than last year!

Great now all you have to do is get rid of the Sluggos and Pungo
Glad to hear you are getting them on the fly, I am now in New Jersey chasing Blues as often as possible and I love it - just hate the roads....

Draw a line from Deal Island to Hull Gut. Anything east of that line is outer.

Eric- Oh man, you rocked! I will be feverishly working on my kayak fishing skills in order to join you someday. North Shore boating trip is still there if you want to give it a go.

Oh and PS: This morning I had to stop by my school and your 2x alma-mater by the charles to say hi to some big brown bombers

I'm not exactly sure where Deal island is, but that sounds about right to me.

JJ make a few practice runs and get ready, the hog days of summer are about 5 weeks away.
I miss those brown bombers, haven't fished them since the water got warm!
