Eastern LI

Was on the eastern end of LI this weekend. Managed to see a lot of baitfish in the creeks and under dock lights at night. Good sign that fish will be here soon. Also, watched a ton of horseshoe crabs entering a bay on an incoming tide. I've always noticed that fish follow the mating crabs by about two weeks or so. Another good sign they'll be here soon!

RE: Eastern LI

Hang in there men. They will be on the way shortly. Down here in NJ, the weather has us about 2 weeks behind in the spawning run in the flats of the Delaware River. My last 3 trips to the flats yielded 40 stripers with 10 in the mid 30" range. Tight lines and good luck.

RE: Eastern LI

This time of year you may be able to pick up a few schoolies in any of the shallow creeks around Sag Harbor & Shelter Island. Best bet would be at the beginning of an outgoing tide, late in the afternoon, after the suns had a chance to warm the water up a bit. Also, since the water is as clear as it will be anytime during the year, small flies with alot of pulsing action should work like gangbusters if you find the fish. Good luck, supposed to be in the 60's -low 70s this weekend.
