Wachusett report 4/24
FF'd the area near the outflow pipe early AM and got a couple of nice rainbows drifting #18 nymphs.
After about an hour I went to the main lake and walked the shoreline for about a mile or so. Used the spinning rods, one rigged for smallmouths and one rigged for for trout. Got blanked on both, off the water before noon.
Highlights were stumbling upon a po'd hissing goose on a nest, getting pestered by a 50lb beaver that followed me like a Monomoy seal, and seeing a dead largemouth that probably went 5lbs.
Talked to a few shore guys soaking shiners and they weren't catching.
I think after the big warm up this weekend the smallmouth fishing will pick up as the prespawn heats up.
