Cool The License

I think the people who issue the license, should be licensed to make sure they are only issuing the license to those qualified to purchase said license.

A few random thoughts on several of these posts.....

For years now there has been posted signage in my state of what is acceptable lengths & qty for striped bass catches. located on the web, the bait stores, the boat dealers, telephone poles near popular surf fishing sites as well as every dock and launch. If you care to read it-it explains it. If you can't read it there is a diagram. We still have poachers taking shorts with very little to no enforcement- The blatent few that do make the papers are usually selling it to their favorite saigon restaurant or giving it to family members.
So much for brochures etc. so much for the sign, so much for the regulation; A waste of time I'm afraid.
It has be enforced- I just don't see it happening. Too much coast, too many boats- and on the municipality and state goverment side I don't see them being able to afford to hire anyone, nor have enough 20 ft boats with twins on them. I don't care how many licenses are sold.

Boating: most states, at least up here in New England (Maine being the exception...don't wanna **** off any tourist$ ) have a safe boating course requirerment for all ages of boaters 13 and older. The operative word being "required". This bench mark will improve things overtime.

I was pulled over for a safety check 3 times last year, in a body of water that requires a safe boating course. Never once was I asked for it- but the knowledge gained from the course is invaluable for most, especially for those that never had any formalized training.
