canyon fishing.

so i have been told to prepare to fish the canyons next year.
I am installing all new Simrad nss and nse and structure scan.
Will have to get life raft and suits. already have epirb.
I think I am all set on rods. 2 vsx16, 2 vsx50's 2 70's and 2 130's.
the big problem is I have no trolling gear. I do all of my tuna fishing with live bait. looking for the go to trolling set ups with the understanding that I will make one or two trips a year out there. not looking to break the bank since the electronics and safety gear will come close to doing so.

how many rods will you be running at once ?
will you be staying over night ?
The 130's are not practical out there. The best reels we use are 50's even your 70's are a little over kill.
We do well with green machine spreader bars (we use a rigged ballyhoo as the striker)
also with daisy chains with a ballyhoo on the striker
Ballyhoo rigs (trolling dead bait)
always keep a shorty a lower diver about 10 to 15 foot off the back of the boat the fish love the white wash.
we chunk at night with butter fish

ou could do allot worse than a bunch of bars and chains of Green Machines and some skirted hoos. Chains are cheap and easy to make, a few Ilanders over some hoos and your fishing.

I'm hanging in there. Been a messed up fall/winter at home (family health issues) so I've been off the boards for a while. Just had some free time to breeze over the fishign sites and figured Id chime in.
