Bermuda?

Anybody have any DIY experience on Bermuda? I'd like to try for some bones when I am there in May, would appreciate any tips.

Right up there with "Can I catch Bonefish during my cruise layover in Nassau?"
The short answer is "Yes, but it won't be easy." Most of the bonefishing on Bermuda requires a boat to access. The best fishing is found around the islands in the harbour- need a boat. About the only place that I can think where you could find access to wading is around the causeway or inside Castle Harbour, but I don't know if I'd trust that bottom. Maybe around Tucker's Town?

Somerset Long Bay Near Cambridge Beaches in bermuda - try bitters - big tough bones

try little coves near country squire in somerset

rent a whaler at robinsons marina in somerset and work the little islands or head out of Ely's Harbor and hit the flat off of port royal golf course - really nice

Heading to Grotto bay for three nights early April. Its a resort with beach and snorkel area. Any oppertunities for catching Bones ( any fish).not familuar with the aera, will travel if needed

that s near the airport, never fished up there , but there is some good looking water as you crosss from airport to grotto. i'd bring the rod. there are bones all around Bermuda, not just many but they are large. Somerset Long Bay is a very large hike to other end of island. bermuda has had a pick up in crime in recent years so i'd want to know where im going. Somerset long bay in evening is a bit too remote. i'd prospect Grotto area if i were going. April the water is still a bit cool. there are sennet and cudas and jacks and snappers.
also in April the wind can blow 25 mph around the clock for a week straight. good luck !

I am going to bring my 10wt and 8wt.

Floating lines, and intermediate.

Just wondering about fly patterns and sizes.

Any suggestions?

i had the best turns on darker colored bitters. and clousers for jacks etc...

the damn houndfish can remove some flys , which is annoying

Well had a great trip, no bones though

Found some of the nicest flats I have fished, had about 10-15 good shots at HUGE bonefish. They would turn on my fly then turn off laughing at me haha. It was still a good time, heart was pounding when they turned but couldn't get any takers. They are super skitish, but man they were BIG!

Caught some nice "bonita" they call them there, decent fight. Besides that just had a real nice time wading.
