Tropical Flats Fishing

Looking for a spot where you can be isolated but fly fish for species such as bonefish, tarpon and permit. I don't need beaches with waves, shopping, fancy eateries or tourists.

I like to fish in the morning and take it easy in the afternoon reading "airline trash" novels. Food should be good and accommodations should not be too expensive. Guides should be reasonable but know what they are doing, particularly boat management.

I don't mind traveling but don't want to have to take a bunch of unreliable island hopping journeys to get there.

Am I dreaming or is there someplace like this out there?

I love Eleuthera, but you will not find many tarpon or permit there. Great for bones, barracuda, sharks, jacks and snapper.

If you really want to have good odds at all of the grand slam species, mexico or belize are good bets.

Costa de cocos in Xcalak is great--fishing, food and lodging. very laid back.
