NY Saltwater Registry?

I recently read an article indicating that anyone over 16 years of age fishing in NY waters (within 3 miles of of shore) needs to register and have proof of "registration" when fishing. It's not a licence, apparently, and doesn't cost anything.

So I tried to register on the www.dec.ny.gov/permits site and, of course, it is a clunky government website that does all it can to prevent you from registering.

Good luck to others getting it to work.

Go here. It looks like you are going to be charged, but at the end it states that it is free.

Now you have fishing privledges in CT & RI. NJ is also free, but you need to go to their Saltwater License site to regester. you will be able to pring your NJ Permit after about 2 minutes of effort.
