any fat lady sightings?

I couldn't make it out to RI last weekend due to some kind of bug that sidelined me.

Hoping to get down there Sunday, who's still fishing?

A ferry captain I know is seeing lots of gannets.

For the record, my last RI fish to date was 12/2 one year in Narragansett.

Here on the Bayside the little bass are still in the surf. Got a few yesterday.

I try for a December bass every year and sometimes it works out.

J, did you see any on Sunday? My last catch was 11/8 and I stopped looking 11/10.

I cleaned up on small schoolies in South County the 18th and then fought the gale force winds Sunday the 19th and caught fewer bass with some big hickory shad mixed in.

Went home to NH for the holiday. May brave one more RI trip this weekend, the latest date I ever caught a fish there was Dec. 2. Might be good to walk Napatree, at the very least stop at the Breachway.

I like the enthusiasm. I used to purposely seek out the hickory shad schools of late Nov. with a 4wt. at one of the popular rivers of SoCo Need to try that one time this year.

Too many choices with limited time.

I was also reminded that I don't know much about crabs. Snagged one on my Clouser, it only had one claw so I didn't bother with my pliers. I figured this should be easy.

That sonofabitch clamped down on the end of my right index finger so hard I seriously thought it was going to take it off. I couldn't get it off until I dropped my hand in the water and then just barely got free. Sad to report that ol' crabby was fish food after that.

My finger ached for a solid hour in the cold but no damage beyond a couple of red marks.

Next time it's pliers only.
