Changing seasons

Just had the worst ice fishing season. Got out once and had to drive way off cape to do that.

On a different note scout herring have been seen in RI waters.

I wonder if the herring have been spotted in the Middleboro herring run yet. When I worked in Lakeville I'd always start doing a lunchtime herring run check on St Patricks Day. The scouts usually showed up just before or a couple of days after.

For those unfamiliar with the area, these were fish that came up Narragansett Bay, through Mount Hope Bay, and into the Taunton River. They'd branch off into the Nemasket River into Middleboro and on to Assawompsett Pond in Lakeville -- about an 11-mile trip from the Taunton River. During good years you could almost walk across the Nemasket River on the backs of the herring.

Not that I ever tried it -- the water is too cold that time of the year.
