Quest for bluefish

The plan was to head out to the horseshoe shoal to stock up on a few bluefish for my lobster pots. It is a 10 mile trip to my waypoint. Noticed some bird activity as soon as I cleared the harbor. 5 #blues..... landed one and lost several before they moved on. So I continued south, it did not take long to realize that the wind had picked up enough to make it an uncomfortable trip in my small boat. Found a small shoal a couple miles out which I worked with surface plugs and swimmers, Both attracted fish but the hook up ration was much better on the swimmer. Think I got enough bait to get me to September.

Lobster are certainly better eating than Bluefish.

I miss catching the big ones but I don't miss unhooking them. Evil looking eyes and nasty teeth.

Blue fish are superior to Stripers as fighting fish.

Good luck on your quest.

Bob,
Have you ever tasted SMOKED bluefish?

It's almost enough for me to bring one on the plane over with me..

Smoked bluefish is delicious! Whether it's sliced or blended out into a pate'
