running line and shooting head for tarpons

Could you tell me who tried to catch tarpons with a shooting head ? What shooting head (floatting, intermediate, sinking...) and running line (floatting/intermediate?, mono, branded, strenght...) to use for every situations ? And to cast big flies...
PS I fish in Africa (Ivory Coast, Gabon, Guinea) (inshore flyfishing only)

RE: running line and shooting head for tarpons

I couldn't tell you about tarpon, as far as I know, most people use full length floating lines, but that is on the flats. I'm not too familiar with tarpon methods so this is all I can offer. Just match the head to the depth of the fish (sink vs. float), running line sink rate isn't (in my experience) too important. If you could supply some info about the type of fishing (ie water depth, fish size etc) Hope this helps some
