Punta Cana Dominican

Going to Punta Cana in April. Does anyone have any exp. with any fishing opport. around there? My primary interest would be tarpon or bones, but offshore would be a second choice. Thanks for any help. JDGrady

I was there in 1999. I walked down a few miles either way on the main strip of beach but didn't see much in the way of flats or other areas that would make for easy fly fishing. I took an "off-shore" trip, only a mile or two out, where we caught two barracuda, one about 10 lbs, the other about 30 lbs. I think the best bet would be to arrange something with one of the locals to get him to take you out in one of the small skiffs they own.

As far as fishing from the beach, I didn't see a single other tourist fishing. Please let me know how the trip turns out.
