Berry Islands and Andros
Had a chance to explore some rather large flats from Great Stirrup Cay to the north of Andros. The NW fronts brought some murk to the western parts, but the eastern dropoffs remained fishable and were indeed very productive with 20+ shots at good-sized bones per day, while a couple of days had schooles of bones constantly in sight on the rising tide. The main problem were 'cudas, present on all but the shallowest water. Since these are mid-ocean flats, with no mangroves or beaches nearby, 'cudas were kings and did as they pleased. Got a ~54" one on a 12 wt (measured against the rod) but didn't dare land it. The durned thing would actually lunge at my hand.
Anyway, the mid-berry flats were very productive, although somewhat hard to get to, as they're at least 10 miles from nearest land. Did not see any other party fishing the entire time, except a couple of bahamian fish trap boats in deeper water. Great place to fish if you have a mother ship nearby. Email if you'd like more details.
