Reel-time membership fee?

Who here would be willing to pay a membership fee for using reel-time? For example a $25 membership for the year. Would you do it if it meant adding more articles to the site or a fly pattern index or anything else I can't think of at the moment? I am not trying to cause problems but I saw it mentioned in the previous post.

RE: Reel-time membership fee?

in reply to a membership fee, i'd pay $25 per year just to have the old bbs5 back.
again, i'm speaking strictly for myself now. TIME, is the thing i have the least of in my life. once mid april/early may arrives, and the bass return, if i'm not @ work, i'm fishing. if i can easily post, to share my experiences, and others can gain some knowledge, ...great.
if i can read the reports of others and learn something myself,...all the better!
BUT, we've been caught up in this "beta test" inertia now for about 8 months now. i've wasted countless hours of my time, in what is often a totally futile effort. perhaps it's because i use webtv. but that really shouldn't matter. this is a fishing forum, not a quantum physics panel. i can't see where ultra high technology is all that nessesary. presently, r-t has to be free, because it doesn't work all that great. if and when R-T is finally a good working, finished product, personally, a yearly or a monthly fee would be no problem. but for now, i'll just give you my $0.02 :-)

With all due respect, I'd be more prone to consider a rebate since it's the readership that provides the incredible value of this reasource.

No offense intended, only meant to compliment the many who contribute here in this virtual tackle shop.

Pay a fee? You've got to be kidding. I agree with bob g. If this board gets any slower to use, they should be bring us coffee and doughnuts to keep us occupied while we wait, and wait, and wait. I know I had an older computer before, but even with an up to date computer, this web page is slower than cold mollasses trying to flow uphill on a cold day.

Not me! Plenty of free stuff out there. Sometimes it seems I'm nursing this thing despite my better judgement...

Nice to see someone still has a sense of humor. Jeff, if your not trying to stir the pot, why would you care? No one I know would pay to access this site as it exists now. Two years ago maybe, but not now.

The way this board is working there is no question that they should be paying us to use it. I think we should go back to the old board.

Sorry -- it took me so long to wade through this thread I forgot what the original question was.

RE: Reel-time membership fee?

Guys...I hate to be the thorn in the bunch. I don't post as much as alot of you but do read most of the threads. One thing I learned and read on the old BBS5 was that a LARGE majority of the posters complained about the current format and were constantly badgering T & D about updating to a new format...Well they tried and are having problems...and I am sure they are working on some sort of fix. Give em a break guys....for I know if they went back to the old format it would just give u all another reason to harp some more....Just my .02....Jeff

RE: Reel-time membership fee?-Wine

Whine I wanna new bulletin board whine whine whine.

Remember when BB5 got over 80k and how slow it was to load the threads?

Remember how the posts were difficult to tell which were new and posters asked for dates?

Remember when you would find a reply 30 lines away from the original thread.

This boards getting better, will it be the one? Keep constructive suggestions coming. Work the board find the bugs. 6-8 weeks to go. Wipe the board clean and let the FISHING REPORTS in the right frame of mind (we no frames now)

RE: Reel-time membership fee?-Wine

Thanks Bob,

Occassionally it doesn't feel worth it anymore, so it helps to have encouragement. We're on the right track -- of that I am confident.

Jeff - that was the most intelligent post I've read in a while. Seems some people are happier if they have something to complain about - the rest are just lemmings..... my .02.

RE: Reel-time membership fee?

Ditto what Jeff, Bob, and Adam said. You guys must be suffering from the shack nasties really bad. Give Thorne and David a break!!

Put yourself in their shoes: you start a site that grows into a wonderful community for fishtalk and whatever, you have a few problems with the bulletin board and replace it, you make a few mistakes but you work furiously to try and fix it (and I'm just guessing that Reel-Time is a side thing for these guys and they have another job and life to tend to).....and what do you get for your trouble?? This "wonderful" community jumps down your throat and starts to trash you. Just remember everyone, these guys started this thing.....give 'em a break and be patient. I have full confidence that everything will be working fine by the time the season starts. Don't jump ship.
