FLA leader suggestions?

Any of you New Englanders have a good formula for tying shock leaders for snook and reds in FLA? I think you need at least 30# at the tip due to the snook's gill plates. Will blood knots suffice? I'll be fishing a 9 wt. with either intermediate 9 or sink-tip 10 line. Also, try as I might I haven't mastered the Bimini/Albright knot connection for my light spin gear. Any suggestions?

RE: FLA leader suggestions?

Try the back-to-back uni-knot connection. It's a much easier way to tie a shock leader to the tippet (it may not be 100%, but it shouldn't make too much difference for snook or reds). You can either double the tippet using a spider loop (simpler for most people who haven't mastered the bimini), or add the shock leader directly to the straight tippet with the uni knots. The other option would be to double the tippet with the spider loop and use the no-name knot to attach the shock leader.

I woud add about 9-11 inches of shock if I were going to use this set-up (I'd probably just use a straight 12-16 lb fluro tippet instead of a shock leader for the reds, though).
