Try the back-to-back uni-knot connection. It's a much easier way to tie a shock leader to the tippet (it may not be 100%, but it shouldn't make too much difference for snook or reds). You can either double the tippet using a spider loop (simpler for most people who haven't mastered the bimini), or add the shock leader directly to the straight tippet with the uni knots. The other option would be to double the tippet with the spider loop and use the no-name knot to attach the shock leader.
I woud add about 9-11 inches of shock if I were going to use this set-up (I'd probably just use a straight 12-16 lb fluro tippet instead of a shock leader for the reds, though).
