Bayside NY, third week in March...

I'm asking this because I'm not that knowledgeable about NY/NJ striper timing. I'll be visiting friends in extreme western end of LI sound the third week in March. Traditionally is that too early for schoolie stripers (I'm talking migrants, not winter-overs)?

You should have no problem picking up stripers in Little Neck Bay at that time. You want to catch the incoming tide and use quick sink line using small white with red head flies. Bounce it off the bottom the stripers are down deep.

An alternative is give the Connetquot river a try for trout.
Of course that would entail an out os state liscence...
