Favourite Places

Want to spend the last year of my life fly fishing the world's magical places, wherever they may be. Would like to hear about your favourite locations and why they're so special to you.

Hi Pedro
You don't say where you are from or what sort of fishing interests you, but I sense that the ambience is important to you?
Here in the UK where flyfishing started has some of the best ambience of all.
Try a river in the Scottish Highlands like the Spey or Beauly at the height of the grilse run in July.
Classic dry fly chalk stream fishing on the Test or Itchen in June.

Dry Tortugas.

Heavenly quiet, fairly unspoiled and there are fish there too.

Godspeed,

Mad Dog

Hell where to start

favourite places ive been or where I would like to visit?

Places Ive been

Tasmania for brown trout that tail like bonefish and the fantastic Christmas mayfly hatches, sightfishing the whole time

East Cape Baja for roosterfish off the beaches at dawn, a laid back atmosphere and Sol beer in the sun

Southern Montana for the aura of being in trout central USA, the spring creeks, Yellowstone et al

Alaska, anywhere but the Kenai especially in autumn to chase big big rainbows after all the other anglers have gone home, with two great friends

Where I would like to fish

Australia's top end in winter to sightfish off the beaches for barramundi, threadfin salmon and queenfish.

Patagonia for trout, I don't care just get me there

The Caribbean for bones/permit and tarpon because of the legend

Anyplace I can stand with a light breeze, clear water no people, fish feeding and a fly rod in hand.

I would head straight back to Alphonse Island in the Seychelles, it's a long haul, but every bit worth it. 50 bonefish in the mornings, then five or six sails taken off a thousand foot vertical wall, with the most azure water in the water surrounding you. French gourmet food is served in this luxurious private island. Also, the great barrier reef for marlin, outstanding is the only adjective available.
