Squid Flies

I am getting ready to start spinning up some squid flies for the spring. Does anyone have suggestions on variuos tying colors/materials for different situations or water conditions ? Any preference to using clouser eyes, bullet heads, rattles..? Just looking for some suggestions. Thanks in advance.

That sick squid was mine. I like it in the spring, mostly at night during a full moon. That's when they spawn more.

I can right down the tying direction and email them to you later.

short version:

I use a Chinese neck for the tenticles with black dots added. The body is built up heavy thread. Cover that with EZ shape (optional), add 1/4 inch or so stick on eyes, cover the whole thing with epoxy, add a marabou neck.

Yman, If you want to look at a different type of squid pattern check out Ken Abrames selection of flatwind squid flies in his book "Perfect Fish". His approach is to give bass a hint of the pray through color & floating shape. Check out Sripermoon.com.
