Quabbin closings

I was wondering if shore fishing was restricted on the quabbin reservoir,if so which gates are closed? Also is boat fishing allowed on the reservoir now?
any info greatley appreciated!!

Everything is closed now - including the Swift below the dam to route 9. With the exception of the Swift below the dam, it is always closed now for fishing. I think that it will open in the Spring as usual, maybe earlier this year since ther eis lttle ice.

Check out http://www.state.ma.us/mdc/pacc_advisory.htm for the latest access info. Open water fishing won't start there until sometime in April and the date is different every year. You'll have to call the phone number listed on the web page in a month or so to get the official opening date for fishing. However, as of this writing, the Swift River between Winsor Dam and Rte 9 is closed to all fishing year-round. When or whether they'll change this is anyone's guess.

April 13,2002 is opening date for Quabbin. The stretch of river below the dam will probably never reopen.

The planned opening date for Quabbin is April 13. MDC is also planning to open the Y pool area of the Swift River on that date along with the shore and boat fishing.

This is all based on no new secuity threats. Do expect some changes in hours of operation and some areas of the Reservoir may remain closed.
