Depth/Fish finder on a Yak

Shaun.......

Yea, take a closer look and you'll see a Raytheon
pokin' out, mounted onto the large hatch cover just aft of the bar. I mounted it there because of ease of access and readability. Because of the action of the hatch, I can swing it around and place it closer if need be. Extended out (from the horizontal bar) on the port side is where I mount the transducer. This flips up towards me when getting underway for the quick paddle home. The ski-do battery is clip-wired below deck, housed in a customized tupperware container secured to the hull. I'll say one thing about fish-finders. They're cool to see ledges, drop-offs and submerged junk and all the fish that gravitate to that structure, but it's another thing to get them damn finnys in the boat. Don't rely on them for anything more than spot location.
OK, so the fish are there.....now what???? That's what's important! I fished without a FF for years with LOTS of success. A minor tool in my opinion.

Oh, one cool little item I came up with is mounting a big plastic hook securely to one paddle blade. This really helps grabbing things that seem always just out of reach. I've got a couple other photos to share with you guys. I'll post them soon. I'm a sign-maker and have done some hull art
you guys might be interested in.........see ya!

PS...I found this shot recently on the net...thought it would get 'yer blood boiling!

Hull Art?

Here's a shot of the business side of my kayak. It's the last thing swimmers see before feeling the keel! Just kidding!
