Eleuthera Information

I am planning on going to Eleuthera during Thanksgiving and was hoping others have been there. I have read that it is a wonderful or do-it-yourself bonefishing, but I am also planning on getting a guide for a day or two. I did a search and found a couple post on Eleuthera, but most were pretty old with old emails. Any information on the island (even non-fishing related stuff) is greatly appreciated!

Eluethera

My wife and I went to Eluethera in mid April. Had a great time. Did not have to hire a guide but that is a good idea. Found a house to rent on 10K Vacation Rentals.com. The best fishing we found was Ten Bay Beach and Savannah Sound. There are lots of "pocket flats" that can be explored. Would buy the book by Steve and Kim Vletas intitled The Bahamas Fly Fishing Guide. We stayed in the North Palmetto Point area. Would be happy to tell you more. Feel free to email me at JeffreyN.Plant@hitchcock.org. jeff

Eleuthera Website

Eleutehra is one of my favorite islands. I helped do a website on bonefishing there. The site is still new so it hasn't hit the search engines yet. Check out www.EleutheraBonefish.com
It has bonefishing information and a link to tides on both sides of the island and a downloadable printable map. Hope this helps. We're still working on the site so any suggestions are appreciated.
Also, we always stay at The Duck Inn (www.DuckInnCottages.com) and love it there. Great access to bonefish locations! It's located right at Governor's Harbour and there's lots of bones in there. Beautiful rooms too.

Hi jeffp

You said that you had luck at Ten Bay. Just wondering what tide you fished there. I've been there twice and didn't see many bones...although I've heard that it's a fishy spot.
BTW...Savannah Sounds is one of my favorites! I got a report from The Duck Inn that a guy staying there a couple of weeks ago caught a double digit bone at Savannah!
