sink treated lines?

hey guys, I've seen many posts on this and other boards, as well as in books about greasing an intermediate line to float it. Has anyone thried the opposite? trout fishers use a product to sink the line/leader further into the water column, but I've never heard it mentioned here. anyone tried it? Tom

Usually I just use a clouser or some other jig, but I did buy those 4' sink tips that you put between your line and leader. They work but cast like sh#@.

RE: sink treated lines?

HI ADAM,
SORRY ABOUT THE ERROR OF THE OTHER POST. I WAS CURIOUS WHAT 4' SINK TIP YOU WERE REFERRING TO WHEN THEY CAST LIKE SH@#$. THE ORVIS MINI-TIPS? IF SO I'D DEFINITELY AGREE WITH YOU. ON OCCASION, I'VE USED THE TAPERED SINKING LEADERS MADE BY AIRFLO, AND I THINK RIO, THAT YOU TO ONLY ATTACH TIPPET TO. THEY PROBABLY DON'T CAST AS SMOOTHLY AS A FULL SINKTIP LINE, BUT PRETTY GOOD IN COMPARISON TO THE ORVIS PRODUCT(FAR LESS HINGING). THEY COME IN 5' AND 10' LENGTHS AND SEVERAL DIFFERENT DENSITIES/SINK RATES. BECAUSE OF THE TAPER FROM BUTT SECTION TO THE TIP THEY SEEM TURN THE FLY OVER NICELY AND MAINTAIN THE ENERGY OF THE LINE. AT LEAST THAT HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE.
BILLY

RE: sink treated lines?

actually, I meant the stuff(i think the name is gink?) that trout fishers grease a line with to make it sink,as opposed to the floatant that most guys put on an intermediat line to use poppers, gurglers, etc... Tom
