I live in Marlboro MA, so getting out to the Ocean involves some planning, with a young family and all.

I have also really enjoyed kayaking the bass ponds around home. I always sneak up on blue heron and other wildlife.

Some of my favorite fishing times are jelly worm fishing the lillypad fields. The kayak is so perfect.

I like the versatility of quite ponds, river tour, or tossing surf like Newport last weekend.

I just got my kayak last November and love it. Got my wife one this spring. With the plastic boats coming down in price I see them every where.

Tell me a little what you guys like doing in the kayaks beside chasing the stripers.

Well after Saturday I thought a little less advnture was in order. Off to the Wood River in search of the wily and elusive trout. Nice time, nice fish, pretty river. All in all a well spent morning. EKG

Locally, I fish the Ashland reservoir because its close to my house. Mostly in the spring when I have a lot of energy but not enough time to travel. Its more to get on the water than catch fish. I also fished Walden pond last winter, but won't go there again until after the summer season ends.

I don't know much about freshwater bass, but eventually I'll learn and hit more local water. Especially as my daughter gets bigger. Right now we fish for sunfish.

I bought my first kayak to fish the Wood River in RI for trout. Was out last night, looked for you, ekg, but you must have taken the night off.

In RI, most freshwater lakes have one public access point, the rest of the shoreline is private. Yaks are a great way to get in.

But the saltwater bug has bitten...and I'm leaving the freshwater to other folks for the most part.

I plan on fishing the Wood river on the tenth. will be at the watershead association lot above the bakerville dam around 6PM or so Red pickup bright yellow kayak. Hope the hexes fall.EKG

I love dunking Shiners for Trout in Walden Pond. Got a method that puts me into fish year round but it will be getting a lot easier to target them as the temps drop.

G-Man you should try the A-1 site in Westboro.

The Front side is a mill pond and the back side is a stump pond. Great place to work a yak thru. But if your fishing have stout gear so you can control the bass quickly to avoid getting wrapped on underwater wood.

Garth, Sam...anytime your up to fishing Walden or Whites ... please drop a note. I use to fish there a lot. The smallies are decent in Walden but very tough to catch (I never broke the code) but I have seen guys who did.

Another place worth investigating is the Concord River, there are some big Pike in there and it can be fun.
