Merrimac Report

I went up to the Merrimac River (Plum Island) today(7/4) and it went like this.

Got to the water with family at 6am. No small accomplishment.
They went to the beach and I got out in the kayak. There was a school of small stripers working near the party boat's dock. I caught 6 there early. Several flyfisherman in boats doing well.

Then moved to Joppa flats to meet another kayaker friend. The was at least 10 kayaks fishing there, which was cool. It must be summer time. there were pods of medium size stripers, which would scatter but not take anything. I did not see anyone hookup on the flats. Frustrating.

On my way back, I got a couple more schoolies and I was off the water by 10am. Very hot(temp) day!

Met a guy from Maine, who informed me the big fish are making their way into the Maine rivers now.
