West Beach 9/22

Fished the beach early a.m., big crowd of flyfishers near the boats moored off the beach, loads of bait. Went the other way, towards the last boat moored.Did OK, using a " Pamet Special". Caught a 1 /2 dozen ,16 in. - 28 in.

i don't know what the hell i'm doing wrong!!! i was at cranes yesterday from 12-5, then brackenberry till dusk...nothing happening at cranes....it was going off at brackenberry again, but they wouldn't bite.....i think there is TOO much bait...what's a pamet special look like? how early were you there? thx. -ff

I was at West Beach 7-9:30 am. The prblem with Brackenberry is, if it is low tide, you going to rake in the eel grass( a real pain).Then you should use a top water: popper, gurgler,etc. The " Pamet Special" is a fly originated by tyer Rick Murphy , go to " fly fish saltwaters . com " Good luck !

i'll have to give west beach a try...i really haven't fished there too much, cause there is never anyone else at brackenberry, but you are right, tons of eel grass...which is a huge pain...i'll give west beach a try tonight...no eel grass there? i found pics of the pamet special....i have similiar flies, so i'll tye em on and see what happens...my buddy hooked up with 2, 37" stipers in manchester harbor on saturday morning, from his canoe...on chunk herring...they're out there

Like I said, in parking lot , facing the water, go the RIGHT !,all the way to the boat moored there. At the turn of the tide, (incoming) there will be a gggeeennntttllle ( gentle) slow rip there. Cast your fly and let it dead drift for a few seconds, then strip it back slow.(it works for me) Good luck!
