RE: Cuzan guest house 1/15
March can be windy as it was last year but we still did real well and got out of the wind if it was real bad. I'll just give you a quick rundown of how I do it- I fly to Cancun get a car right there and head right to tulum (stopping in Playa de carmen to go get groceries-PB&J and water, fruit for the fishing days)this is usaully 2 hours from getting off the plane to arriving in Tulum. Then I start down the road to Punta Allen which can take 2 hours since the road is horrible. if there are puddles, check them before you blow through them. Arrive in Punta allen and check in to Cuzan. $50 a night with good cheap food. Ask Miguel(the bartender) where Antonio lives and he will show you (tip him $5 or something) this is a great guide who I fish with often. he usually charges around $125 a day which is almost a third of the price if you book a guide through Cuzan (Antonio works for them as well but they pay him only about $60 a day) make sure you are good to him and keep it quiet around Cuzan since he could lose work from them. Also please only tell people that will treat him right since he is a good person with a big family. HE has great eyes and will get you in front of permit, bones, jacks, tarpon and snook. the tarpon and snook are pretty far and aren't where the bones are. Jose at cuzan is a great chef and Miguel can help you with anything else. have fun and let me know how it goes. If Antonio is busy, ask Miguel to get you someone else. He is training as a guide as well, so maybe he will take you out
Good luck
