Airport - 5/22 at 7:00am

Lots of birds working, 3 - 4 boats clustered up. I didn't see any fish come over the gunwales but it sure looked like the real deal. I also saw that guy with the aluminum "Pacific" type boat for the first time this year. Again, I need to ask, why am I sitting on a commuter boat and at a desk when the harbor is hot??

For once, I'm on the outside looking in as well . With any luck, I'll get out someplace for half a day tomorrow. But I have to stop reading this board, it's getting depressing!

Where were you today? I was out on shore around Deer island light but the harbor was empty, hardly any boats. There were a couple on the outer harbor and at the winthrop boat ramp but nothing around the pier or the flats where people usually are...

I was on the Hingham commuter boat. I saw the birds and activity right off the airport in the channel...right in the flight path of the planes coming over Southie.

Harbor blow up!

Satuit,
Your almost as bad as I am . Where do you work? I'm watching probalbly 500 birds right now clustered in the center of the harbor. They are hitting the water pretty hard on occasion. there's about three boats working that school. Is it May or October? If anyone who fishes the harbor want's to contract me as a spotter my rates are reasonable. It's masacism working here and having to watch this! The Weweantic river is beckoning me. My kingdom for a livelined herring!

I work at 125 High Street - 19th Floor. The killer thing is that this weekend there will be a gazillion boats out there, and surface blitz's will be fleeting at best. The curse of the working man...

I was out from about 7-9 this morning in the area mentioned. 18' Maritme Skiff. Fishing has been very solid the past few days. A friend from work and I took bass to 36" on flies and soft plastics...

Also brought two short cod to the boat from about 7' of water up on the airport flats. They seem to be up there now chasing the herring and feeding on the abundance of small crustaceans...

Mendy,

Are you talking about that point right off the airport, closest to Castle Island?

By the way, I saw your boat last week at Crystal Cove while helping a friend out at the marina. I wanted to know how your boat ran with the batteries near the transom? I'm thinking of doing the same thing.

Satuit,

You taking tomorrow off?

Paul

Good luck. What do you do with the fly when you're moving your boat with your rod in the tamer...do you let it drag in the water or do you throw it in the bucket with the rest of the line?? Thinking about buying one...

I've been sticking the point of the fly hook into the cork of the handle. I don't stick it on the handle, but on the edge of the first ring of the cork. The Line Tamer came with a velcro strap to secure the line to the rod, I just forgot to bring it last time.

If you're going to buy one, check out: www.burfish.com

Do a search on Fly Line Tamer.
