Memorial Day Weekend.

Yeah, I have egg on my face.

Had the trailer set up at Galveston State Park Thursday, so when I got there Friday night I could get a good nights sleep and hit the surf Saturday. I get down there about 8 pm and start to get rigged up when the problem begins. Rods, Flies, Leaders, Extra Spools, NO REELS! Yeah, they are on the table right by the door to the driveway.

Saturday, all day. the surf was beautiful. By the time I got back from an hour drive home, an hour drive back and a couple of stops in between, things had slowed. Watched a friend give us a good showing of a Third Coast Boat Ride. He caught a jack about 8# (on light spinning) that took him a pretty good jaunt down beach. This, along with a few specs and gafftop, made up the report.

Sunday, my old buddies, Mr. Wind and Mr. Seaweed, showed up making casting from the shore almost impossible. My buddy in his 'yak gave up early, also.

Monday, The wind stopped blowing just before dawn, but the surf was still choppy. After a short try, I let them have it and headed back to the real world.

This weekend the Texas Flyfishers is having a club outing at Shamrock Bay (Near Port Aransas). Hoperfully the report will be a little bit better for the long rodders. Tight Loops, AC

I was on the water about 8am on the back side of Galv Isl State park, the Dana cove area and fared pretty poorly. Mixed fishing with flies and shrimp, several undersized specks, some croaker some gafftop. Saw several waders and yakkers with hookups in the shallows. It sure looked like perfect conditions with an incoming tide but I heard a lot of poor reports.
