Turks & Caicos (Provo) Non Fishing

Took a week and hit my favorite island of Provendiciales in the Turks. I had originally planned on doing some fishing while there but that didn't happen. Went on line and looked for charter outfits and most were pretty high in their prices. On average a 1/2 day(4 hrs) on the flats was $400.00 a 1/2 day big game was $600.00. So I decided to look around when I got there. Same results. However after talking to a few bartenders you could probably do better if you get friendly with some of the guides. Pay the 400.00 and then talk to the guides and some will give you tips on where you can do some fishing on your own.
Another option would be to rent a small skiff and hunt around. But be aware outside the lee it can get pretty rough. I went diving on the NW point of Grace Bay and had a pretty rough ride back even though we were in a 25 footer.
The week I was there the wind was up big time and had been for about 6 wks. I had been there before and found it to breezy but not what we had. I was laying on the beach at noon and was more than comfortable. It even got a little cool at night.
