no knot fas snaps

Has anyone ever used the no knot fas snaps instead of retying?
I had a guy tell me the other day they worked great, strong, and did not effect the flies action.

This is flyfishing. Part of the deal is learning a few knots.

I assume you are talking about retying a hook, fly, or plug onto the leader. I don't use the product you mentioned.

I use a bowline knot to attach all my hooked items. This knot is used extensively in sailing, which I do frequently. Therefore I can tie this knot quickly and blind if needed.

These gadgets work pretty well. Esp good for cold weather or hands that have seen a few miles and mishaps. Need the LARGE size for salt - even that is a little small.

I never thought of using a bowline to attach hooks/flies. I can tie that one blindfolded as well. Do you use it on heavy leader/tippet as in 30 lb or better?

I was thinking of the fas snaps for very quick fly changes.As far as knowing how to tie a few knot, I think I may know too many.I even have a few I made up myself.We use a bowline knot to train bird dogs with, thats right bird dogs.Tie the brass collar snap on the check cord with a bow line.When the dog goes on point , you walk ahead to flush the bird.Holding the check cord. If the dog tries to creep up you throw a little loop down the check cord and when it gets to the dog , the bowline pops him under the chin . You say whoe just as this happens.Teaches them to be steady to wing and to keep their head up so they can see where the bird goes.

Oh yea, The little saying for tieing a bowline is, make a hole, then the squirrel come out of the hole, goes around the tree, and back in the hole.Thats a reminder until it gets to be second nature.
