Monomoy Island, MA - Morris Island

Parking - Free; 15-20 vehicles
Proximity to Water - 15-20 yards
Type - sand and mud cove

This is a great spot for accessing both Monomoy and South Beach. It is accessible at all tides and opens up into relatively protected waters. Do take care as fog can roll in quickly here and it would be easy to get lost or run over by a local claming boat. To play it safe, have a map, compass, watch, whistle and GPS with you plus stay close to shore until you become familiar with the area.

I would add one thing for this location.

If you do go all the way to south monomoy or even north monomoy,you may want to pack some dry clothes.

In the rare event that you roll you yak, it's loooong way back to the launch, but a short paddle to dry land. There you can change into dry clothes. No big deal on a hot summer day, but can be a big help in the early spring and fall.
