Shaun,
Sign me up.
I don't think the pattern has a name. Call it the long squid.

Count me in too. I'll tie up a dozen of my 2Cent Squid. Just when you thought there was nothing you could do with the fuzzy end on your hackles...

hope this works, but this is what I am planning on tying this is my first squid pattern fairly simple so let me know what you think. Fly is approximately 4 inches long. Proper retrieve is a strip every 10 seconds while erratically twitching the rod.

Kujo's Ribbon Squid
Hello,
New to the site - came across the squid forum and would like to enter a new creation for the swap. My inspiration for the fly stems from popovic's siliclone w/ a lip and my contribution of using curled ribbon (similar to those on top of presents) to create the ribbon squid. The only field tests that the fly has seen so far are confined to my bathroom sink, however, I am still amazed at the life-like action of the tenacles created by the curled ribbon. Durabilty and castabilty are up in the air. I would say that as long as a blue doesn't lock down on it, it should hold up. Heck, the frayed tenacles might even add more action to the fly, if one does (as long as they aren't pulled out- the thread turns are zapagaped). The fly is considerably light, so I speculate casting will not be a problem. I am working on finding a more realistic color to use for the body - red is the only fleece that I had at the time - but it looks pretty good. I put a light coat of epoxy(soft body works too) over the top to form a durable encasement and the lip was first formed using silicone (Pop Fleyes) and then covered with a light coat of epoxy, too. (added glitter while mixing epoxy) Well, enjoy! Sorry if the picture is huge...

SoCo Squid
Shaun,
Now that the holidays are behind us, I'll join you for this swap.
For lack of a name, I'll submit the SoCo Squid. It is something I whipped up, dunno if it is in any pattern books or websites or if someone's done something like it before. Haven't looked. I'll add a pic when I get a chance.

Ok I think I can crank out some squid flies by Feb 15th. Add me in.
I use a color variation of what I think is basically the shady lady.
