Looking over the recently arrived 2004 data.

The average age for bass up to 18" was 3yrs. Max age for an 10" fish was 4.

fish from 30-34" averaged 8yrs with 10 the max age.

from 35-38" average was 10yrs max - 14

from 40-42" average was 12 yrs
45-46 15 yrs

48' gave a 13yr reading with not enough data to produce a range.

Oldest max was 44" 17yrs.

Boat vs shore

Shore guys win out in terms of number of fish caught under 14"

From about 20" inches and up boat guys caught roughly three as many fish in all the various lenghts.

Compared to 2002 and 2003 ...2004 had a huge spike in numbers of fish in the 16-22" range. ....small spike of 25" fish
While the numbers for fish in the 26-32' range were above 2002, they were below 2003
After 32" 2003 and 2004 are identicle looks like in 2002 no data for fish above 45"

One further note.

# of fish equal to or greater to 28" was 820

55% of the legal sized bass caught were released.

Total number of bass in survey 2905
July and June posted the most bass caught in a month at 639 and 685

October and May the least with 362 and 363 May produced a wider range of fish.
Octobers were mostly 26- 22" fish

Sport Fish Angler Data Collection

I thought it was a "stumper" too... maybe you cant instantly kill a keeper sized bass on a hookset through the brain might not be able to reach it...

The one I killed was around 6" long...

I too would think it isnt culling because you havent kept it? Any TDs in training out there?
