Mounting of Fly rods to a OverSand Rod Rack??

Hello.

I love to fish oversand from my Pathfinder.

This year, I am biting the bullet and have purchased an Angler's Aluminum 6 Holder Fold-Down Rack. I have seen a ton of them on ACK, and got a sweet deal at one of the shows.

Here it is for reference:

Most of the time, I keep my fly fods in a interior-mounted rack.

My question is: Do you mount any fly rods to the front rack? If so, who do you do it?

I am concerned about the whipping of the fly rod and it hitting the other rods. Any comments? Suggestions?

Hi, We did oversand for a number of years on the Cape. IMO, I'd leave the fly rod off the front rack. My .02 -- Have a good season.

PVC Flyrod Holder

to AT Grimaldi, I built my own for the front of my Blazer. It mounts to the towing hooks. Two nuts and bolts and its on. I carry two flyrods and sometimes two spinning rods. I have never had a problem or damaged a rod. Seeing I drive from Watch Hill to Charlestown RI, on and off the beach, drive Route 1 at 50 or 55 MPH, and I haven't broken a rod yet, and my flyrods are 10 feet long. They do bend a little. I have just got to find a picture of it to post, about 500 photos to look through, or put it on and take a picture. I will try and post a picture tomorrow or monday. Happy Easter

Found Picture

AT: I found a picture of the rod holder I built this morning. Note the reel on the rod is not a cheapie, it is a Bill Pate Bonefish. I haven't lost it yet.
