Just back from a weeks fishing. Lovely weather, 20-25 mph, squalls, funnel clouds etc.

Just relearning this southern stuff. Didn't fly fish, tough enough with conventional.

Traylor island, Estes flats

Clear water was tough to find but the fish were willing till about an hour after first light. Spotty thereafter. Picked up some nice trout and reds. Big rattling topwater black gold and orange top dog i think made for some great albeit short action.

Colder weather early in year has bait running pretty small. Piggies are quarter sized. Lots of small croakers, mullet, and shrimp.

East Flats

Got blown out by the weather, nice area, lost one good fish, saw a couple reds

Laguna/ Bird Island walked and waded: Good amount of school trout in waist deep water down from boat launch and out towards bird island, well out from shore. Long walk to best wading. Trout were on piggies and small croaker. Did best with DOA shrimp and storm shad tandem under rattling cork, and to a lesser extent bone corky. Better in the morning, but action continued throughout the day.

The heat and wind made things tough. The recent full moon probably didnt help.
