Galveston Green all the way to the Beach...

SO last saturday my buddy calls me up and says that called a fishing pier in Galveston and that the surf conditions were perfect. Green all the way to the Beach. We started the drive from San Antonio and when we finally arrived at the G. Jetties it was Brown all the way to the Beach. We were crushed. Did a little night fishing under the lights near Moody Gardens and ended up landing a nice red about 22inches on the fly. I actually saw a bunch maybe 25 fish all concentrated in three green lights that were next to each other. A couple shadows looked really large. I could not believe how selective these guys were. Usually when they are cruising the lights they will hit anything. Clousers, streamers, shrimp patterns. I finally got one hookup on a small golden shrimp pattern with a rattle in it. The only problem was that my buddy either got seasick from the kayaking or the RedBull or was just plain exhausted because we had been fishing all day ( woke up at 6am and fished for bass in the Hill country until 12). A fishing trip just is not fun when your fishing partner does not catch any fish.
